Day 37. Still no sign of land.

Well, channel 407 has dropped off Dish completely, it's the night before La Liga starts, and the GolTV website doesn't foresee any compromise in the near future. I'm not feeling hopeful about this.

Can anyone out there do my job for me this weekend? Hit the comments...

If I catch the Hudson game this weekend (which I should because I'm a loser and I have no plans other than to sit around and watch the games) I'll let you know if Ray has any good calls.

Trust me, the real loser is the guy sitting around just wishing he could watch the games.

Haha - I'm only doing this because my commitment to the hilarity of Hudson runs so deep.

You know, you could always try watching goltv via myp2p.eu.

Well - I tried to DVR the game Hudson was doing, but GolTV's schedule was messed up on Comcast and I only got the first 29 minutes of the game. I'll try again next week.

I caught the Real Madrid game Ray did (I also think he did a couple of Bundesliga ones as well) but no real gems. I think he was bummed at the news of Robinho leaving RM and also the team's lackluster performance kinda muted his comments.

I had AT&T installed today. Ditched the dish

Is it me or has Ray turned down his commentary a few notches? He's still as listenable as ever, but he isn't spouting the gems of the English language that he's best known for.

Cheers,

Today's match: Barcelona and Racing, Ray came up with a few gems.

Regarding Racing's miraculous defending: "They're living on a rabbit's foot."

On Messi's penalty kick: "That was cool like Sidney Poitier."

Ray was in much better form today and it was actually a real crackin' match as racing held Barca to a 1-1 tie.

watching real madrid-numancia right now, hudson is back in fine form, screaming about one of the numancia players (i was laughing too hard to catch which one) being too worried about his mascara after taking a cleat to his face. this is a hell of a game.

he was also in pretty good form yesterday during the barca match.

Yeah, that was pretty classic. I believe Phil was concerned that the guy was hurt bad and Ray put Phil in his place by saying these guys were professionals and the cleat to the face was just a little slap. Heh.

I was just watching the Bayern Munich vs. Werder Bremen match today and right after Werder Bremen scored their 5th goal the camera cut to Frank Ribery in the crowd, apparently sitting with his little daughter. Frank had just rolled his head back in frustration and his daughter was clapping away with a sucker thing in her mouth. Ray said "His daughter should be slapped...nicely. Not a good sign when your daughter's cheering for the other team, but what else could she do the little darling?" About 10 minutes later they were talking about it again and Ray said "Would have definitely taken her lollipop away". Only Ray could get away with that in my book without being offensive!

Ray is definitely back, if only we could all get
directv; this website would be rolling.

Bremen v FC Bayern Sept 20, on the Pizarro goal at 58:45. Here is another instant classic from the intricate mind of Ray: "Well they call him the Inca God, the Peruvian. And I know your little wife, Phil, will be calling him some sweet Peruvian names and this is brilliant."

Watching the Barca derby and he said of Espanyol that they have "testicular fortitude." Love RH!

I was just about to come on here to note the 'testicular fortitude' comment. Pure genius. I was LOLing for so long when he said it.

yesterday as barca was beating up on atl madrid 4-1 after 30 minutes he said that AM was having a "bad hair day even worse than marge simpson"

Hudson went WAY beyond his old standard of "testicular fortitude" in GOL's broadcast to the the Germany-Russia WC qualifier last week.

Podolski scored, and Hudson started going on about his finishing being classic "Germanic, Teutonic efficiency", when he switched modes. The goal was a "beautiful dream of a goal...a wet dream". His partner told everyone to "Grab your towels, because there may be more to come."

Ray did the Madrid derby today oct 18 2008 and said " retinas the size of dinner plates" but my fav is " teeth the size of pinnapple chunks", when referring to Ronaldo's teeth.

If you still don't have access, maybe this link will help you get a little fix:

It really has everything you'd hope a Ray Hudson quote would have, other than a reference to Riquelme.

Ray was in fine form at the Nov. 8, 2008 - Real Madrid vs. Malaga match. After Madrid's Gonzalo HiguaĆn scored a goal, he said, "Like Mike Tyson, he takes two bites and gets the job done!"
