Bayern Munich vs Hamburg, February 24th

That's payback for that elbow that he took earlier. Are all Peruvians that way, Phil? I know you're married to a lovely lass.

When is GolTV going to get with it and post a Ray Hudson/Phil Schoen schedule?

I never know when he is commentating and the channel number is odd enough that I rarely find myself flipping through it. I can't remember the last time I watched a game called by Ray.

Why not try to cultivate the audience with a simple link on the goltv website. It can't be that hard can it?

Oh! *That's* what he was talking about. Though his words are like gospel, sometimes they elude his faithful devotees... :)

Tim, I don't know if you're blessed with cable with a guide function, but the way I usually guess it is by looking there for the games that are being played and figuring out the four biggest of those. Further, Ray almost always will do any game that involves Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Bayern Munich.

To add to your point, I'd like to see Ray doing some studio commentary at some point. There are so many throw-away shows and infomercials on GolTV. Would it kill them to put Ray behind the desk for a weekly half-hour program to talk about the week's action? I know I'd DVR it.

Joe,

I have digital cable, but Goltv program descriptions are only listed as 'Gol Premium' and they run the gambit of games and content. Usually no info on teams, and it is placed about 200 hundred channels away from my normal rotation.

Also, since FSC is now part of the normal cable package and at channel 76 right next to comcast and espn, I rarely find myself up in the channel 300 range where Goltv sits.

I'm going to reach out to them and ask. If I get a good response I'll mention the fact that he needs his own review show, which sounds like the greatest idea ever by the way. Just Ray, a mic, and some highlight would be, as Ray might say, 'simply orgasmic!'

I think GolTV's feed to e.g. Tribune Media Services (that supply program data to DVRs etc) is crap. The Bayern-Hamburg game showed on my program guide as 'Futbol Espanol', for example. Some weekends are fine, some are missing teams altogether.

The GolTV website does seem to have reliable upcoming match data, and you can usually guess which games Ray will call. If I ever find out who's doing what games I'll put a banner up or something. If.

Emailing GolTV can't hurt. I don't know how responsive they will be but I did notice that ESPN have stopped giving out other scores during Champions League games, which used to drive me nuts. It sounded like they did that in response to viewer complaints.

Why can't Ray commentate some Barca games? He likes Argentines, no? Messi magic should be enough. LOL. I'm just so sick of Pablo Alsina's cheerleading for GolTV. I'm in need of some 'heavenly gods' metaphors.

My guess would be that Mr. Hudson does the Barca game on Wednesday against Valencia. Unfortunately, Valencia have stopped shipping goals to all and sundry but I imagine Messi and co should give Ray plenty of opportunities for self-expression.

if espn and mls had any brains they would make ray the voice of the mls on the espn broadcasts. he is so entertaining that he might get coverage for the mls.

ESPN/MLS: I think Ray would be good for MLS (and USMNT) but would you rather watch him calling Real Madrid and FC Barcelona or Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas?

hudosnland i agree but as a us soccer fan i would like to see soccer suceed here so i could one day look forward to watching a decent league here and i think that ray doing MLS would get people interested

While the future of American soccer is in the hands of ESPN, we're all in big trouble. Their approach is to try to treat the game like any other sport (and do stuff like assign Dave O'Brien to cover the world cup) rather than to present it as unapologetically different.
